Please Pray

PRAYER UPDATE:I just got word from the hubs that the swelling went down behind Danny's eye. They have released him to bedrest and will be just keeping an eye on him. No internal bleeding and he is in the clear. Praise Jesus! Thank you for praying.

I know that I have the best bloggy friends in the world and know that I can count on ya'll to get the prayer chain going!

Please pray for my precious friend Danny. Danny is on the basketball team that my husband works with. Last night at one of their games, Danny was sandwiched between two guys and hit really hard. He suffered a concussion and is in the emergency room right now. My husband is there and was kinda vague about the details but he is having some very serious swelling behind one of his eyes. The doctors are very concerned because this could indicate some severe internal bleeding. Please pray for his family, his fiance, and healing for the swelling and for his head. Also please pray that my husband will have the words of peace and comfort for his family in the waiting room.

Thanks for praying. And give everyone you love today a BIG hug. Every day is precious.

Sending all of you a big hug. You make this blogging world so very special.

Holy spawn of Satan

I finally jumped on the bandwagon with the spawn of Satan at the steering wheel. Yesterday I finally started day 1 of the "The Shred".

I bought it a couple of weeks ago and just now got around to getting weights to go with it. So I did my normal run on the treadmill, and decided that it was as good a day as any to get my butt completely worked by Jillian.

Holy mother- this was the hardest workout I have ever had. Now, I am not super in shape and have never been much for working out so this may not mean much to those of you who live in the gym...but seriously Jillian...she ain't messing around my friends.

She was yelling at me..I was yelling back. It. Was. Not. Pretty.

And I may have almost died.

I am sore all over and am identifying muscles I didn't know existed. I don't know how in the heck she expects me to do this for the next 29 days. Sweet lord help me.

Have any of you survived the 30 Day Shred? If so give me positive encouragment!! I need it!

the excitment that is my life

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!! It was absolutely GORGEOUS and Sunshiney here this past weekend!! I almost didn't even know how to dress myself...what I don't need five layers to go outside??? I only needed to put on one shirt...I forgot how easy peasy it is to dress when it is warm outside.

On to the weekend highlights:

Hubster and I went on a rare date!! woo hoo....he is usally gone most weekends with the team and so I was ecstatic to have him all to myself. We went to see Valentine's Day! It was too cute!

Highlight: Snuggling with Hubby Friday afternoon before the movie. :)

Saturday: Sister in law came in town! Went to hubby's basketball game with her! After the game, we got some pizza and spent the night watching Curling with the hubby!

Highlight: Got to see the sister in law.
Also, our apartment gym finally replaced the broken treadmill. When I walked in on Saturday to run...it was like the heavenlies parted and were singing just for me! Did I mention that I hate running on the elliptical and that is what I have had to run on for the past two months. For some reason it makes me look and feel like a complete spazz....can I get an Amen?
Who knew gym equipment could bring me such joy.

Sunday: A whole lotta nothing...which is about par for the course on Sundays. Went to church, lazed around the rest of the day. Finished the book I have been reading. Did some laundry!

Highlight: ummmmm........sleeping in on Sunday and having the hubby home!

too much to handle

So who watched The Bachelor last night ladies? I almost threw up in my mouth when he picked Vienna at the rose ceremony.

Oh well..let's get to the thoughts:

Gia's Date: I thought their date was the best one of the night. So normal just walking through the beautiful town. They are supercute together.

But honestly....I almost laughed out loud when Jake was TYRING to dance to the reggae music.

Love the hammock over the ocean..I mean talk about unbelievable.

And ouch that comment about how he was surprised she was actually deep...ouch Jake honest much?

Tenley's Date:

Alright Tenley....you know I love you and I think you are adorable...but seriously you and Jake need to talk about something else besides your ex husband. I am starting to think you are not over him.

That helicopter ride was gorgeous!

I think these two are adorbs....but something tells me he won't pick her...even though he should. She is going to get her heart broken.

Vienna's Date: oh lord where do I start with this girl. She licked him first off......ummmmmmmm I am at a loss for words.

Can anybody tell me what that bizarre tattoo is on her side? Yuck!

I feel like she is reading off of a script when she tells Jake how she "feels". This girl is about as real as a ten dollar hair weave.

I'm sorry but that white lingerie was the least sexy thing ever.

I think that Jake likes Vienna because she acts like she is 12. So it makes him feel young. He will most likely pick her and they will last two months after the show and he will get rid of her once he gets tired of babysitting.

Ali: If you knew the "second" you got in the car that you had made a mistake...why didn't you just open the car door back up?

I am excited for the Women Tell All episode!1 It is always one of my favorites!

For the love

I hope that all of my lovely bloggy friends had a delightful Valentine's Day weekend.

I wish I could regale you with the tales of my wonderfully romantic weekend celebrating with my hubby. But alas...I cannot.

The Hubs was out of town this weekend with the team that he works with....so I was single and lonely for the weekend. And man o man did it suck!

So instead of getting all weepy and sad on you about how I was without my better half for the weekend...I figured I could focus on happier things!

So I figured now is as good a time as any to tell you all the story of how the hubs proposed. Because let's face it.....engagement stories always make me happy!!

So just to preface this story with the fact that I LOVE surprises!! I mean really love them. So J set out to make sure that I got the most surprises out of my engagement that anyone could.

He had the spent the entire summer working at a church in Georgia...while I was in Oklahoma. It was a very hard summer and I was missing him terribly! The time had finally come for him to come home from Georgia. He had told me he would be home on a Thursday. Monday night I went to work and as I was driving home, J called me just to talk. So we chatted and when I pulled into the driveway, he told me he needed to get off. Okay nothing out of the ordinary. So I walk into my house and HE IS SITTING on my couch!! I freaked out!! I was so excited!!! So that was surprise #1.

Well then he asks me if I want to go hang out at his parents house in the city. I am so ridiculously glad he is home after three long months that I am pretty sure I would have gone anywhere with him at that point and not thought anything of it. I was so excited to be around him...I completely forgot to change...which I would later regret as I was still in my work clothes..and they were NOT CUTE!

So we get to his parent's house and he tells me that he has a surprise for me for my birthday which was a few weeks earlier. We walk outside onto his parent's patio and there are dozens of Christmas lights strung everywhere..in August. I LOVE CHRISTMAS lights and I have always said that I wanted to be proposed to and have Christmas lights around.( Cue Surprise #2)

so the hubs then showers me with tons of great presents for my birthday.

Then he unveils a painting that he did with the words of a saying that we always said to each other.(Cue Surprise #3)

Then he hands me a golf ball and aks me if I recognize it. Well at this point I am just entirely confused. After all of the great gifts, why is he handing me a golf ball??? of course I have no clue and then he reminds me of the story behind it.

The story behind the golf ball:
The night that he asked me to be his girlfriend we were sitting in his car after a night of hanging out. He happened to have a golf ball sitting in the console between us in the car. He picked it up and started nervously playing with it...and he kept dropping it and it kept bouncing all over the car as he was stumbling over his words. So I remember being slightly annoyed by this dang distracting ball...so I grabbed the ball and basically told him in so many words to spit it out. Well after that he asked me to be his girlfriend.

Alright back to the engagement story. So this was the same golf ball that was from that night...he had kept it for two years. So he told me about how he puts my first initial on all of his golfballs when he plays( he is a big golfer). At this point I am going"why in the world are you telling me this?"

He then tells me that he would like to be able to start putting an H behing the M. (H is his last name). Then he got down on one knee and the rest is history. I freaked out and was completely surprised.

Then his brother jumps out from the balcony with the video camera that had recorded the entire thing!!

WHEW that was a very long winded version. But hey it is hard because there were so many details that were so specific to us that make no sense if you don't the stories behind them. So there you have it...our fairytale story of how we started our journey to become the Mr and Mrs 4 years ago!!!

Thanks for letting me relive all of the gushy details!

who needs bread and milk?

IT IS SNOWING IN CENTRAL GEORGIA!!! So of course I had to go to the grocery store to pick up some necessities.

These four things I HAD to have just in case we were snowed in! Which just might be possible!

Grandma brain

Yes you read that title right...I have the dreaded early onslaught of grandma brain....where you are so incredibly forgetful and can barely remember what you ate yesterday for lunch.

All kidding aside(hopefully I did not offend anyone's grandmother). I have the worst memory in the ENTIRE world. I am not kidding...just ask my husband. I can hardly remember anything. And lots of times it is large portions of my life that I acutally enjoyed that leave my memory as well. Not cool.

So in the spirit of using this blog to serve some purpose...I am going to jot down some of the fun things we did during the weekends...so that in a week...I can remember these joyous occasions. Feel free to skip this post..as it really is just for my benefit!

Friday night:

Hubs and I went to the circus. We were surrounded by lots of families that consisted of parents stressed out by their kids who were doped up on the sugar and by the amount of money they had pulled out of their wallet for a sno cone stuffed in an animal head. BUT we had a blast as we are sans child.

highlight: Watching a lady swing from the air by her hair. Really.
And the adorable elephants and their cute poses.

Saturday: Went to dinner with new friends. Ate BBQ and talked about favorite tv shows as a kid.

highlight: Finding the elusive 30 Day Shred workout that I haven't been able to find anywhere. Will begin this torture on Monday. Also, found a (straight) boy who likes the twilight series. It was hilarious hearing him talk about Edward!

Sunday: Church, then off to watch Super Bowl with friends.

highlight: watched a ridiculous amount of Smallville episodes while doing laundry.

Hung out with friends, ate great food, and watched the Saints make history! Fun!

Now if you are still with me....

How was your weekend?

Loyalty is not something we suddenly are at the flash-moment of testing. It's something we already were that surfaces in the test. Loyalty, therefore, means that when a sudden temptation poses a character question, if we have true conviction in that area, we do not have to consider how we'll answer it. Loyalty means the question has already been answered. ~ Beth Moore, Daniel Study

So right now I am in a Bible study and we are doing Beth Moore's study on the book of Daniel. Now typically the Old Testament I struggle with. It is alwasy way easier for me to read the New Testament than the Old. I am sure that is the way it is with a lot of believers.

But let me tell you....God is absolutely rocking my socks off with the book of Daniel.

I love how Beth Moore puts loyalty in the statement above. To have true conviction in the fire we have to already have our resolve made up and questions answered. We have to know how we will choose to act before the question is ever asked of us.

I am sure most of you know the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and the fire. Sure it is that typical story you are used to hearing when you are little and I have never gone too deep with it before.

But really.....I don't know how much more they could have displayed loyalty than in this circumstance. King Neb tells them that they must bow down or they will be thrown immediately into the furnace. Now they are looking two feet behind King Neb and they can SEE the furnace BLAZING. This is not just your typical campfire. They are looking at the very flames that threaten to consume them in mere minutes.

And yet.

They don't hesitate. They don't deny God. They don't give in. And they definitely don't have a pow wow between the three of them to figure out what they are going to say. The know immediately that they will give their lives for the God they serve.

And it is obvious that they have made up their answer to this question well before this crucial moment.

They were prepared to be loyal. Amazing.

And not only were they loyal to a God that they knew could bring them out of the fire. But they were loyal even if he didn't.

"If it be SO, our God whom we serve is ABLE to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he will deliver us out of you hand, O king. BUT EVEN IF HE DOES NOT, let it be known to you, O king, that we are NOT going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up."

Daniel 3:17-18(emphasis mine)

Wow incredible. The kind of faith that it takes to know that just maybe God won't act the way you hope....but that it doesn't matter the outcome. You would risk your life for Him just the same.

Jesus...if I learn one thing in my life.....let this lesson stick. That I would stop being loyal to myself. And that my loyalty would go to the One who deserves it above all others. The One who is able to deliver me....whether he does or not.

I STRONGLY encourage you to pick up this Bible study....it is life changing.

Ahhh....I can't believe how long it has been since I posted! I have been neglecting this poor little blog here lately! But it is not for lack of trying...I have been trying to post some super fun weekend pictures from my trip back to our old hometown....but blogger apparently hates me and won't post any of these fun memories! And I am ashamed to admit how many times I have tried. ;) But I will prevail, blogger. You won't get the best of me.

In the meantime...I thought we should chat about my favorite train wreck of a show......THE BACHELOR! Did you all watch? What did you think?

Here is my rundown on thoughts from the least dramatic episode ever.

Tenley: I thought their date was just adorable......I mean Jake why even finish out this show...just marry the dang girl already!! You two are presh!

And the fact that they both put the same thing on their fortune cookie was adorable.

Two-on-one awkwardness: I think they should call this episode "Attack of the clingy sausage: Vienna Part One.

Ouch that was kinda harsh...but true. I mean this girl is kinda getting stalkerish possessive over little Jakey-poo. Nauseating to say the least. I feel like I now understand why all the girls want her gone now.....this girl gets on EVERY one of my last nerves.

Gia: Way to mack down on Jakey boy. Good job-but do you guys do anything else? I don't think she will make it past next week.

Corrie: Finally a girl on the show with some virtue!! LOVE THIS girl!! Don't worry honey you will find somebody else. you are too cute!

I want to be mad at Jake for getting rid of Corrie....but then I think about the awkward boat ride staring at each other and realize...yeah he made the right choice to send her home.

Ali: It only took you 5 episodes to find your hairbrush in that suitcase of yours. I am so proud.

Also, thanks to you there are now mothers all across San Francisco having to explain to their children why "that lady was sitting on that man that way in the park". Seriously-straddling your man in a public park=Not cool...get a room.

Jake: I actually like you and I think you really want to find love. But I have to say that if you pick Vienna any more...this friendship is over.

Who do you guys think will fair well with the parents? Also, I wonder what the big teaser about another drama and Jake getting his heart broken will be about? We shall see!
